Hi. Which is the better place to make your base for a few days in the area? I want to spend a few days at a beach and seeing nearby sites (Butterfly Valley, etc) and wonder which one is more convenient to stay in?

Also, if I go to Oludeniz beach for a day, is there a place where I can lock up my valuables? I'm travelling alone and I don't feel safe leaving my stuff (ie. my camera) on the beach.

Thanks

I would recommend to stay in Oludeniz - while both areas are touristy, there is a much nicer, more relaxed atmosphere there and nicer beach. It also looked like a better base to take small boat cruises from (we make the mistake of prebooking a boat from Fethiye that had about 100 people onboard, that travelled around with 8 other boats, each with the same numbers, all playing loud, bad music! - not fun) Also, if you stay in Oludeniz, you don't have to worry about locking up your valuables and it's only a short dolmus trip from the main bus station in Fethiye

you may also stay at butterfly valley if you enjoy quiet.....
the best is stay at oludeniz instead of making dolmus trip everyday, lots of accomodation choices at oludeniz for each budget,

No. 1, good words. These boat trips are not all they are touted to be!

Hi, I am going to be travelling down the coast from Istanbul to Oludeniz over a couple weeks and am wondering if there is cheap travel to the greek isles and on to Athens from there or if its better (and cheaper) to head back to Istanbul to catch the express train to athens? Id like to see some of the isles so if i could do it along the way to Athens it would be great but if its cheaper to get to Athens first, then hit the isles, ill do it that way. thanks!
