Hi all,

Although the trip to Pamukkale is popular but there are so many optiosn to get there - I have not seen a query that matches mine so far so i hope I am not repeating the question:

I am planning to go end May and here are my queries:
1) Transiting from town centre to the gates and between the gates - I read there are shuttles. How do they look like and where do I take them from? e.g. town to south gate and vice versa. Any reference?
2) I would like to catch the sunset from the travertines and the sun sets later in end May. What time should I be at the travertines to do that? And is the travertines opened 24h?
3) Or is the morning just as beautiful for a climb up the travertines?
4) Any idea how much the cab will cost from near the Denizli train station to the gates?

I can help with a couple questions:

2) Sunset in late May is around 20:17

4) I wouldn't suggest taking a taxi from Denizli train station to Pamukkale as it is at least 20 km away. Minibuses run very frequently between Denizli and Pamukkale.

1) "North Entrance - Minibuses traveling the route between Denizli Otogar, Pamukkale Town and Karahayıt pass this entrance every 15 or 20 minutes throughout the day. Board at Peron (Gate) 76 Denizli Otogar, or below the mosque in Pamukkale Town, and say this to the driver: Örenyeri Kuzey Giriş "Archeological Site North Entrance"). " - TTP

I'll try a bit of help with #3:

As best I know, they only way to take a climb "up the travertines" is to first climb down the travertines from the upper entrance. Be aware that shoes are NOT allowed* and the surface is VERY sharp in places--you need WELL calloused feet.

Some "jelly-type" sandals may be allowed now but I'm not certain.

The main source of attractiveness during the evening/night is from colored lighting.
