ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES NEAR GAZIANTEP | Turkey - Lonely Planet Forum

Hi all,
I have two questions:

1) Has anyone been to KARKEMISH (or CARCHEMISH), an archaeological site near Birecik, south-east of Gaziantep? I know it's near the Syrian border.
Are there any police checkpoints on the Gaziantep-Karkemish road?
Can you take photos there?
Is there a museum or just an open-air site where you can freely walk around?
Is it worth a visit?

2) What about the other two archaeological sites: TILMEN HOYUK and YESEMEK?

I could be mistaken, but when we lived in Turkey, it was not possible to visit the site of Karkemis. Perhaps someone else will have further info.
