Hi,
This message is adressed to all travellers that have already been in both Morocco and Turkey.
I have also posted the message in the Morocco branch.
I'm currently living in Morocco and will visit soon a turkish friend in Istanbul, I've never been in Turkey before.
Reading the Turkey LP it seems that all the traditional crafts that you can buy in Morocco are....also in the market in Turkey!
I would like to give him a traditional moroccan craft as a present, what would you suggest? Leather babouches, carpets, thuya wood, ceramics, what?

"it seems that all the traditional crafts that you can buy in Morocco are....also in the market in Turkey!"
According to my own shopping experience in Marrakesh this is almost true but not entirely.I have managed to buy myself some unique berber kilims which are somewhat different in design than what you can find in Turkey. Also in Marrakesh souk I bought myself a leather rucksack/backpack which I love, the price was cheap and the design was unique. The Moroccon slippers,Baboosh, can aslo make good gifts and they do not exist here..Depending on your friends sense of humor you can also get him/her a djellaba :)
