I'm not having great luck finding answers to all my questions about the 5 day museum pass - if you could help it would be greatly appreciated.

1) Should I purchase ahead of time or can I just purchase in Istanbul?
2) If I should purchase ahead of time - could you send me a link - I was only able to find a link to the 3 day pass.
3) If I purchase in Istanbul, will I be able to pay for the pass with my credit card?

I will be arriving on November 27 and leaving December 3 - just in case the dates I'm there might matter.

Thanks,

David

It can be purchased online if you wish, but they can also be bought at many points around the city so,unless you intend to start using it the moment you arrive ,I see no problem in waiting until you get here. One less item to lose on the way here :)
You can buy from Topkapı,Aya Sofya,Archeological Musuem,Kariye Museum,Mosaic Museum and Turkish Arts Museum plus from mobile vans. And yes, you'll be able to use a C/C.
They can also be purchased from the following hotels, perhaps one of them is close to yours(or is yours!)-

Hi David,

I've just left Istanbul.
There used to be the 3 and 5 day passes, this has been changed recently and they only offer a 5 day pass for 85tl (despite some old cards still in circulation). The validity time is calculated from your first use and you can only visit each location once.

They are easy to purchase once in Istanbul. There are vans located at Hagia Sofya selling them plus, some hotels also sell them.

Re the credit card, I'm not sure, we got ours through our hotel.

Here's some info for you:

Enjoy the trip.

sarikanarya and barr1luk,

Thank you for your responses.

I will wait and purchase the pass in Istanbul. Now I realize my confusion about the 3/5 day pass - there is now only a 5 day pass and I think the price of that pass was the same as the old 3 day pass.

I'm staying at the Basileus Hotel in Sultanahmet, I'm guessing one of the hotels near there will sell the pass. I will pick up the day of my arrival.

Again - thank you!

Dersaadet and Eresin Crown hotels are both close to Basileus Hotel so you can try either of them.
