Train from krakow to florenceCountry forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Poland
Hello everyone - my husband and I are planning to visit poland/ukraine for several days after completing my I would like to take the train from krakow to florence and have been trying to map out the route. It seems that Im hoping that you experts might have some suggestions or better ideas of how to get to florence or maybe Im just reading the train schedule wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Happy travels.
Check out train schedules at www.bahn.de. I think your best bet is to take the daily overnight train from Krakow to Vienna, arriving in Vienna at 6:22. You can stash your luggage at the train station, check out Vienna for the day, then catch another overnight train to Florence leaving at 19:30. (Or, better yet, stay a day or two in Vienna.) Alternatively, you could travel during the day with a couple of stops, taking around 20+ hours. I don't think there are any direct flights, but you could probably piece together a couple of discount airfares to get there much quicker (and probably cheaper, if you plan ahead). Check out www.whichbudget.com. Dave | 1
http://wizzair.com/ has flights from Kattowice to both, Forli and Rome, fares start at 15 EUR/pax one way. | 2
Dave - thanks for all your help. | 3
Train is definitely bad option unless you are railroad fan. It will be much faster, comfortable and cheaper (if you book flights in advance). | 4
Krakauer: I suggested the same under #2, taking into account that ryanair doesn't offer any Krakow/Kattowice - Pisa flights in the next few months. | 5
