romania -end of march

Hello

I'm planning a trip in Romania, in the coming week.
Any recommendations for a one week trip which focuses on nature and hiking?

Are the hiking trails in Bucegi National Park and other mountain regions in Romania open in end of march ? (let's say from 27th of march)?
what's the weather in this season in regards to rain/temps?
Or is there still a lot of snow blocking the hiking trails?

Are there any recommendations for other areas (i'm interested mainly in hiking and not so much in wandering in old villages...)

There are many options, depending on your hiking skills and the part of Romania you will be in.

The Bucegi mountains would be a relatively good idea. Even though not all trails are simple, they're reasonably well marked and there are usually many hikers you can team up with.
Besides, after you get to usual start points (the Prahova valley resorts) if you just don't feel up for the Bucegi you can simply go into the less challenging Baiului mountains on the other side of the valley.

In the Bucegi and in other mountain regions many hiking trails are open all year long.
Only the very difficult/avalanche-prone trails are 'closed' (more like "not recommended") in winter. That theoretically means until the end of April but there's no clear date, it's best to check with local mountain rescue or tourist information offices.

The weather is often rainy (and occasionally snowy) in the mountains in late March; temperatures are usually under 10°C and can drop below 0°C.
There's high chance you'll still find snow at altitudes above 2000m.
