can anyone explain to me how the AKBIL (transport card) works? All the information i´ve got is very confusing. I´m going to go with a friend to Istambul for a week. It diserves to buy and AKBIL or it´s easier to pay anytime we use the public transports? It´s necessary to buy two AKBIL or we´re able to use one for the two of us? I´ll be very grateful if anyone could give me any information. Thanks. Javier

An Akbil is useful if you are taking a trip using two forms of transport, as you pay only one fare. If there are two of you travelling together, you just use it twice. It is not a card, but a piece of plastic with a metal disc on one end that contacts the 'reader'.
