Kaliningrad first point of entry?

Hi, in my LP Russia and Belarus it says that there may be certain restrictions as to where you can enter Russia, naming amongst other places, Kaliningrad. As i am thinking of making that my first point of entry into Russia (either by land from Poland or flight from Berlin) i am keen to know whether i can do so with an ordinary Russian tourist visa, or whether i need extra papers. I plan to then fly on from Kaliningrad into mainland Russia.

As far as I know there should be no probs entering Kaliningrad with a tourist visa, and it seems that you have figured it out already...with a single entry visa its ok to fly between Kaliningrad and mainland Russia, and the prices should be reasonable too if you book over there. I entered with a double entry business visa a couple of yrs ago from Lithuania.
However if you have never been to Russia before you may find Kaliningrad a little...um...Russian! Obviously dont expect western service standards or clean streets etc and people are not likely to understand English, if you're mentally prepared for all that you will have a great time.
