Is point of entry shown on a Russian tourist visa?

Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Russia

I have some relatives coming to visit me in an out of the way part of Russia in June as part of a tour round Europe and other places. They have tourist visas to Russia, but, just before departure, the travel agent sprang on them some costs of unforeshadowed altitude for the Russian segment, and the cost factor has put that segment in doubt.

I have found out that they could independently fly in and out from Europe direct to my city for much less than what they have been quoted. However, I am pretty sure that they would have mentioned Moscow on their visa application as their point of entry. I have been out of contact with them in recent weeks as they are footloose and laptop free. So, can anyone tell me if point of entry is mentioned on a tourist visa? If it is, does it matter if they don't enter there or even go there at all? (They probably also mentioned my city as part of the itinerary.) Or, if it does matter, is it realistically possible to have the visa altered? Much obliged to anyone with any information on this. I probably did have a Russian tourist visa myself once, but that would have been two or three passports ago.

No, the entry and exit points are no longer shown on the Russian tourist visas, nor do the visas any longer indicate the places that you list on your application.

Both pieces of information were on the visa back when the visa was a 3 part document not stuck to you passport. Back then you kept no part of the visa. Two sections were taken from you on arrival and the 3rd handed in at departure.

Thanks Ruth. That seems to quite eliminate that problem.

How would I know, at short notice - at the time of responding to, i.e, reading, it, if a reply were correct. That would imply that I already knew the answer at the time of reading the reply, and problably at the time of placing the OP; which would beg the question about the question. I suggest that a category such as "decisive" or "definitive", or perhaps "entirely pertinent" would be better than "correct".
