Criminal Record

Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Russia

I will be applying for a single entry tourist visa in the next week or so for a trip to Moscow with my girlfriend. I have a criminal record for an offense from 4 years ago, the charge is police assault. Is the Russian consulate able to check up on my CRB? when I've had visas before from countries in South America or Asia I've simply ticked "no" if the question came up and never had any problems but something tells me Russia might delve a bit deeper. I feel that if I answer yes and give details, my Visa will probably be refused. But if l say no and they check up it will definitely be refused!
Any advice anyone could other would be greatly appreciated

Search this forum for the similar question, there were quite a lot of them. Specifically for travelling to Russia.

Best ask the consulate.

you may change the problem into opportunity. If you tick "yes" on the application form and they raise questions, just tell that you organized a protest action against NATO involvement in Libya. Then you will get a honorable guest special visa.
