Bucharest to Rousse to Turgovishte

Hi,
I am coming with a flight to Bucharest, Otopeni Airport on April 16 at 1 PM. I am going to participate in an Orienteering event in Targovishte, Bulgaria that starts on Friday afternoon April 17.
Anyone reading this that are going to this event??
Could anyone help me with information how to get there? It looks like I have to take either the train or bus to Rousse, probably get a bed there for the night and following morning a new bus from Rousse. Does that seems reasonable? Are there still problems with the trains to Bulgaria border? There was information about a bus to Rousse in another thread, leaving 4:30 PM from Piata Unirii. Is that a good choice? If so, how do I get there?
Will appreciate all kind of useful information (time table, bus #, train info, prices etc)!

Yes, that's probably the best way to get there, take a bus from Bucharest to Ruse and then another bus (or train, with a change somewhere -see timetables on bdz.bg) from Ruse to Targovishte; if you're lucky you could even do it in one day (getting to Targovishte very late in the evening).

The bus is the best choice to get from Bucharest to Ruse, because the bus takes less than two hours to do this route, while the train does it in 3-4 hours or even more; this happens because the main railway from Bucharest to Giurgiu (the city across the river/border from Ruse) is closed and trains have to make a detour. You can check some bus timetables here, but note they might not be accurate or complete; price is around €10.

Buses from Bucharest to Ruse leave from a sort of station in front of Horoscop hotel; to get there take bus 783 from Otopeni airport to the end of the line (which is at Piata Unirii), get off at the final stop and then walk a bit ahead to the corner of the square, the hotel is right on the corner.

If for some reason you decide to use trains to get to Ruse, there's one leaving from Bucharest North station at 12.16PM (it gets to Ruse around 3-4PM) and another one at 8.04PM ( it gets to Ruse around 11PM/midnight).
