Ballet & Opera in Moscow and St.Petersburg

Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Russia

Hi

Planning a two weeks holidays in end July for Moscow and St.Petersburg for ballet-rama opera-rama nights. Anyone knows well about it wanna help me out for planning?

This site is pretty much the only one I could find for booking the tickets for those famouns ones like by Bolshoi.
http://www.bolshoimoscow.com/

1) Anywhere else I can book?

2) Checking Bolshoi's official website, doesn't have a schedule or July yet but why does above website have and when will Boilshoi official website starts selling the tickets (it's cheaper than the site above)? When is it too late to book popular ones by then?

3)How difficult or easy to get into those famous shows without advance tickets? And how much is it the cheapest ones? Bolshoi's official website says the cheapest ones are even from 100-250R, but is it available on-site??

Want to spend my two weeks watching ballet and operas many nights as possible!
So I don't mind getting into theatres for those not-so-good-but-cheap tickets.

Although, wanna do a proper black-tie expensive seats for one night each in Moscow and St.Petersburg, it looks like all the front seats are already booked-out for even July (Now is frist week of April), is it so? Any other means I can book those good (but expensive) seats for an experience at Bolshoi Threatre??

Thanks!!

It is not necessarily that the seats are booked. Some hard working guys have rented the whole section for a year. But apparently there is a silent agreement with the theater that if the lounge is empty at the beginning of the performance then it can be filled with wait list guests. Try this website http://www.bolshoi.ru/en/timetable/#2015-07 instead of bolshoimoscow.com. There the programm for July is already available, there you can also check about the booking options.

Hey thanks!!!!

Checked that Bolishoi s official website, I am planning a trip at the end of July and their posting is only up to beginning of July so I have to wait few more weeks to book thru that web site, which is fine I will.

Why do you recommend to book thru this one instead of bolshoimoscow.com btw?
Price?

I and my friend wanna book one night at Bolshoi Theatre FOR SURE so we will do this in advance, but for other nights we are thinking we may be able to score some seats, how much are the cheapest? Is it true it is cheap as 100R or 250R?? - says so on Bolshoi s official website.

And how is it that for other theatres? During the summer is it the peak season though I reckon?? Maybe it is difficult to get tickets at the door??

Cheers!

Btw, what is the best way to book with the other theatres? Through their official website too?

Cheers,

I have no idea about the ticket prices. Have always been invited to Bolshoi. In order to search online for other theaters you have at least to be able to read Russian. These websites provide information on the location of ticket kiosks in Moscow:
http://www.ticketland.ru/kassa/
https://msk.kassir.ru/
you can buy the tickets in these kiosks. I definitely advise against buying anything from sinister folks lurking around the entrance of the theaters. Their "tickets" are either faked or completely overpriced.
