I will be crossing this border as part of a group in a private bus next month. has anyone any recent experience of crossing the border from Russia to Estonia at Ivangorod, either in a bus or by car? how was it? how long did it take? did you have to fill out any paperwork at the Russian-Estonian side?

I am planning to travel to the Kola Peninsula to hike in the Khibiny Mountains and visit Murmansk and maybe a Sami settlement. To do so I plan to request a tourist visa. But the crux is that I am a photographer and author, specialized in mountains and travel. We have a tight connection from a brief detour we are taking from Moscow to Vladimir and back.

We are taking a night train from Vladimir 8:14PM and get into Moscow at 10PM at KURSKIY Station and need to be in KAZANSKY Station 1:10 minutes later for our departing train to Kazan overnight.

LP Guide Book provides very little info other than ferry will be far more difficult to catch unless one charter one which will be too expensive for me.

I am considering those 3 destinations, then south toward Moscow.
