Hi all, a two-part question:

  1. Does anyone know if the once-a-week ferry from Vladivostok to Japan will be running in mid-to-late November? I have tried to log onto the website for DBS Ferry and it doesn't seem to be working...

  2. Has anyone had experience with buying a SIM card for use while in Russia? I would like to buy one for my trip in Oct.-Nov. Where is a good place to buy one, and can you purchase pre-paid minutes for use within and/or outside Russia?

Thanks!

Joe

Sim card could be easily purchased in many Mobile/cell phone stores (like "Евросеть"). Russians normally would need their passport (I don't know how that works for foreigners, but I think you'll be fine) to register the sim. You'll be asked to pay 200-300 rubles (4-5$) which will go directly to your sim card balance and you can use it for call or messages, so that means sim card itself is free.
