We are planning to visit Valaam in August this year and are thinking of making a trip to Valaam.
Could someone tell me if it is possible to do it as a day trip? If yes, any companies that offer this service?
I found some references to 1-day trips by hydrofoil, where you start early around 7 and return late at around 11. However, the accounts of these journeys are old (at least 3-4 years old) and I am not sure if this service still operates.
The LP guidebook and some other blogs mention that you have to do it as a 2 night 1 day trip i.e. spend the night overnight on the cruise, spend the day Valaam and then then spend another night overnight on the cruise and reach St. Petersburg the next day morning. Is this the only way to do it?
