Hey,

I planned my holiday for the last week of May and first week of June and I'm still not 100% sure where to go. I've always wanted to go to Russia, but criss-crossing the entire country in just two weeks on a tight budget is not an option. Therefore I would like to concentrate on St Petersburg and Karelia only.

Kizhi and the Solovetsky Islands are the two destinations (besides St. Petersburg) I'm interested in but I'm stil hesitant about visiting those places as they are not reached that easily.
-Are ferries running from Petrozavodsk to Kizhi that time of year?
-Are there any good hostels to be found in Petrozavodsk?
-Are ferries running between Rabocheostrovsk and the Solovetsky Islands.
-Is there any affordable accomodation to be found on the islands?
-How is travelling out of St Petersburg? (I can read the Cyrillic alphabet and have a very basic knowledge of the Russian language).
