Hi All,

I am an American citizen working and living in Berlin, Germany on a 1-year visa. This is my 2nd 1-year working visa.

I hit a bump in the road here unfortunately it seems with applying for my Russian visa. As of now, I have applied for an approved German health insurance and also applied for a tourist voucher/confirmation, but found some possible bad news.

I just read this evening on a German website offering Russian visa services that my German work permit must be valid at least 6 months up to the exit date of my stay in Russia. My plan was to visit Russia from May 15th and stay until May 26th of 2015. But unfortunately, 6 months in advance from the end of my visa would be April 14th of 2015.

As stated, I simply read this on a website but I'm not 100% certain yet that this is true.

Can anyone else who has applied for a visa on a work permit for Germany or another country confirm if this is true?

I hope to have a clearer understanding tomorrow since I sent out a bunch of emails to the visa service center contact, and a few other websites offering visa services.

Thanks for the help.

I got an official reply - it is possible to request and apply for a visa. Hope this helps others going forward. Thanks!

This is all new to me but I am also an American living in Germany and would love to apply for a Russian visa. Can you explain the process in great detail? Which consulate did you visit? Did you have to go more than once? The more information the better as reading the information online, I am having trouble understanding the process.

Thanks
