very confused!!
am irish passport holder, travelling in asia/aus. plan to travel up through china (if visa possible from aus or s'pore) then mongolia then train - moscow. any help with following questions v much appreciated:
1. can i get a russian visa in aus or singapore or china or mongolia. how long is processing time?
2. how long is a russia tourist visa valid for?
3. does it begin to expire on date of issue or date of entry? (so if i get it in aus, can i still use it in russia 2 months later - would rather hang around with friends in sydney while it's processed than in beijing as china visa length seems limited to 30 days now)
thanks a million for any replies

you forgot to tell the currently most imptt piece of info; WHEN
Start now reading the FAQ in top ofChina=No-Ea asia branch, also gby our dear ms. everbrite, as China has about cutrailed any visa during olympics time (and my guess: as long as they are busy identyfying all the faces of young protesters with tibetan flags, to make a blacktlist of them........).
In NORMAL times (tll last dec.) it was easy enough to get a visa on the spot in any city with an embassy.
for the Russky: you did not even have to post/ask here If you had read the also by Ms. everbrite FAQ in top of this branch

  1. You might be able to get a Russian visa in Australia or Singapore.

  2. Tourist visas are valid for a maximum of 30 days and are DATE SPECIFIC. You can enter on or after the date and must exit on on or before the date.

  3. Russian tourist visas are date specific and you need to obtain some specific paperwork in order to obtain a Russian visa. PLease read the New RU Sticky which explains the process.

PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT recommend trying to travel this route this summer or until after October unless you are able to get a Chinese visa. Please read the Chinese Visa sticky. I suspect that you can NOT get a Chinese visa because you are looking to leave overland and the Chinese now require proof of exit. Some consulates require the actual plane tickets for entry and departure and real reservations. The Chinese are NOT releasing any train tickets for this route.

Whether with your Irish passport you can get a Chinese visa in Australia or Singapore remains to be seen.

Hi, I recieved Russian visa in Singapore three years ago. It was OK and took a week or so though I'm a UK passport holder. I would reather suggest you apply for multiple business visa, it can be 3 or 6 months duration, so no problems when to enter or exit. Some useful guidelines in faq of visaable/com. Last time I renewed Russian visa in Laapeenranta., Consular issued it quite easily.
