We arrive at Domodevo at 2 am in March. Is there some kind of cheap place to sleep around that area open at that time? We have sleeping bags, so even a park, empty house... would do.

Domodedovo is located well outside the city. There are no cheap places or hostels nearby because it is too far to travel from there into town. I think the only hotel nearby is a 4 star place.

March is a little cold for sleeping in a sleeping bag outside in Moscow. Average high temperature is 0 C and the average low is -28 C. I would not plan to sleep outside at any point during March. Besides sleeping in a public city park in Russia is a good way to get arrested by the militsia.

You have two possible options. One is to sleep in the airport for a couple of hours until public transportation starts operating at 7 am. There is good free transport from the airport. Save your boarding pass and you can take the Aeroexpress. Two is to arrange pickup by preordering a taxi from the hostel at which you intend to stay or through the airport taxi service.

There is a hotel at the airport and its about 200 USD plus tax per night for a standard room. Forget about a hostel near the airport as one doesn't exist. There are some hotels about 15 minutes away but you'll have to pay transportation to/from and by the time you do that you might as well pay the 200 and stay at the airport.

If your landing at 2am it means by the time you get through customs and get luggage it will be 2:30. A lot depends on where your going to? are you staying in Moscow for a few days? Or are you flying out the next morning? If your flying out the next morning and have sleeping bags with you I might be tempted to crash somewhere in the airport.
