Obtaining a russian tourist Visa in china

Please read the links in my signature line. My website has reasonably up to date information on getting a Russian visa in Shanghai. Don't bother in Beijing. Most people get refused as they have signs saying that they only process visas for Chinese passports and foreigners holding Chinese residency permits.

How long it will take depends upon your passport. It is NOT the same for all EU members. It will also depend upon the length of time of processing.

Russian visas are unique. They are date specific. You can enter on or after the date but must depart on or before the date. Also you must obtain an official invitation and accommodations voucher. Please see the links below for lots of information.

My travel agent has advised me that I must apply for my Russian Visa in Australia and that I will not be ablte to get one while travelling, I looked it up an sure enough, it seem it may now be the case.?

1. A foreign citizen can now obtain a Russian visa ONLY in the country of his/her citizenship. One can also obtain a Russian visa in another country but will need to present to the Russian consulate a permit of stay in that country valid for more than 90 days. A visa may also be issued in a country other than an applicant's own in case of urgent necessity, such as participating in international, governmental, official, scientific, sport and cultural events. A final decision in these cases would be left up to the consulate.

Way to Russia - New Visa information

Increasingly this is being reported to be the case particularly in Europe, but I haven't heard of anyone being turned away in Shanghai. The most recent report was last month.
