Hi
I will be in Moscow on Victory Day this year. Could someone tell me if I will be able to visit St Basil Cathedral and Red Square the day before Victory Day (8th May). Also, where is a good place to watch the parade and what time.

Many thanks for your information.

Hardly anyone else will tell you the exact information. This you will learn on the spot when login to Red Square.

I saw the parade last year and remember that Red Square was almost completely closed off the days prior to the parade. I'm going to say I am 99% sure you cannot, but I did not try specifically to go to the cathedral so can't say for sure! If you write me a PM I can try and give them a call for you to find out.

The parade route and times change a little, but I think Novy Arbat (around Dom Kinigi) at 8:00am will get you a nice view. Also heard Belorusskaya is a good spot to watch from, though haven't tried it.

Thank you so much for your reply. I can go any time on the 8th may and in the evening if the 7th May. Even if I can't go into the cathedral, is there anywhere I could get nice photos of the cathedral on this'd days. Thank you fir answering me.

Yes, I'm sure great photos will be possible from either Varvarka street or Bolshaya Ordynka street. Also don't forget to visit Victory Park (Park Pobedy) after the parade, this is where all of Moscow will be celebrating with veterans, music, a free outdoor military museum, etc. But expect massive crowds!

I just spoke to the museum and confirmed they are closed the 7th and 8th, and of course the 9th as well. Sorry!
