It is a club in Moscow that perhaps 10 years ago was the in-spot in Moscow and very well known. Today it is a shadow of its former self.

This is an old thread from 2003 here in the TT about the Moscow Club Scenewhich doesn't even mention it if I recall correctly but nonetheless you might find it helpful/useful for your travel plans. Though old, I am not sure that all that much has changed. .

You might try reading their website: Hungry Duck

You might enjoy reading the Wikipedia entry for the Hungry Duck.

For more information and reviews about bars/clubs in Moscow, try moscow-life.com, expat.ru, moscowcity.com, themoscowtimes.com

Let's not be disingenuous here. It's a world famous sex tourist destination for endless supply of cheap Russian sluts.

There, I said it.

Although it's "Wild Wild East" days are long gone, there are still some washed up Russian whores trolling for business.

A few lucky former Russian "working" girls are now some rich businessman's wives or kept women. Hey, they "work" hard for the money. They'd be the first to tell you it's not easy lying on your back all day.

Mafia smuggled the others to western countries to earn hard currency.

Those were the good old days. A once in a lifetime opportunity thanks to the collapse of the U.S.S.R.

Don't they have titty bars where you come from?

The young, hip and truly beautiful moved on a very long time ago--in 1999 when the first incarnation The Hungry Duck was closed, if not before. My impression is that the current incarnation mostly caters to flabby middle-aged foreigners who want to behave like frat boys...though I could be wrong.

lol. An interesting comparison, since Studio 54 ceased to exist more than 20 years ago! (Ok, according to Wikipedia it was briefly reopened in the mid-90's, but quickly went belly up.)

But the Hungry Duck was and is more of a drinking than dancing venue. (The whole topless-girls-dancing-on-the-bar thing started because of lack of space: see this old article from the eXile, Moscow's sophomoric "alternative" expat newspaper, written during the 1999 closing.) Also, Studio 54 was famous for celebrities and glitterati; the Duck is better known for mafiosos, whores and vomit. Nightclubs anywhere have a short lifespan, but in Moscow, in particular, no place is generally "in" for more than 6 months or so, if that. Rather than go someplace that was hip 10 years ago, I suggest that you find what's popular now and go there. (Ruth's links can get you started.)

I have never been to Moscow, but I know about the Hungry Duck. #2's explanation is probably best. An American guy who is rather infamous on the internet and who used to participate in the largest mailing list for guys looking for women in the ex-USSR used to go there quite a bit "back in the day". A few years ago he reported going back and being disappointed in it. It's basically a place to go to look for prostitutes or cheap women.

Thankyou applenpie. Your discription was hilarious. I had a great laugh.

Many a western man has been screwed by a Russian woman.
