Might be a stupid question but I haven't been able to find the answer on the web. When I was in Moscow back in 1996 and 1998 there was a huge market in Fili park where you could buy bootleg CDs. I hadn't been back to Moscow until recently but didn't make my way to the park. I kind of assumed that they had cracked down on it and closed the market long ago. If not, surely I would have found more info about it on the web. Can someone please confirm whether this is the case?

Last time I was in Lala park was probably 2003 and it was still going strong. Haven't been back since as I live in Bangkok, home of the bootleg CD.

It's called Gorbushka I believe. I was there in 2004 and it seemed quite . . . vibrant . . .

bmta - it is almost impossible to find a place that sells real CDs and DVDs here in Bangkok although there might be a few in some of the malls.

Garbushka is not at Fili.
Take the light blue line on the Moscow metro to Bagrationovskaya. Come out and turn left and walk down the road for 5 minutes and garbushka is on your left.

Ok thanks. I seem to remember it was in Fili when I was there but perhaps it moved. Sounds like it's still on then.
