What is the best way to get there? are there metros, buses, taxes? the most economical? how long? which airport?'

What time are you arriving? That might make a difference.

From Domodedovo there is an express train which most people are entitled to take for free with their airplane boarding pass. If so this would make your travels much easier as from the Paveltskaya train station it is an easy transfer to the Paveletskaya metro station and just a few stops to the center of town and the Tverskaya street metro stop. Check the airport website, DME for information on when the express trains operate.

I have been to Vnukovo but not in many years (1995?) so I can't tell you anything about it since it has become an international airport. DME, however, is modern.

The Red Square hostel is not in Red Square but it is on Tverskaya Street near the metro stop of the same name.

Vnukovo now also has some kind of arranged Bus+train deal, every hour or ev. 2 hrs, but the actual train station is not that nearby you can walk: there is a dedicated bus to there, signed etc. If its also included in airpass I cannot say (though I seem to recall that some airlines offered it in the past), ask when there. also where I sit right now I do not know what station it arrives at in Mockba, but any trainstation has a metro.
metromap: printable from urbanrail.net
However, all the Russky wanting cheap travel do it just like at Sheremet: private marshrutka=minibus to nearest metro stop, then onward, just folow the crowd.

I flew into Vnukovo in June 2006 and had no trouble taking the express train into the center. It took about half an hour, if I remember correctly, but it was pleasant enough and brought me right to Kievskaya. The station itself was a very short walk just outside the terminal, though it wasn't marked very well due to some construction at the time.

oh, thanks, then my info has been updated - they have built a special station closer by. there is some site like ''goingtoandfromairports.com or so, that lists as many airports in this world with all transport-options.

While both airports have convenient express rail links to downtown Moscow, Vnukovo has an edge in that it's way less crowded. Domodedovo looks like a real zoo at times, with all the charters going in and out.

The bus+train deal referred to in post 2 is from Sheremetievo. The station at VKO has existed for years now, by the way - I first used it arriving from Tbilisi in August 2005.
