Hi,

Is anyone aware whether it is currently possible to visit Crimea as an independent western tourist entering on public transport from either Krasnodar or Novorossiysk? Obviously the Foreign Office/US State Department are strongly opposed to such travel, but, after doing the research, I am sceptical that there is a substantial risk to foreign travellers. Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,

No problem, but as far as I know the border with Ukraine is closed.

There is zero risk to foreign travellers. Except I seem to heard that your bank may not allow cash withdrawal from ATMs located in Crimea and might not pay with credit card so bring all the cash you'll need.

It's possible, but not overly advisable.

For sure it is possible. If you go from Krasnodar you can buy a ticket at the central bus station (across from the main train station).

You can get tickets to the next cities in Crimea: Yalta, Sevastopol, Evpatoriya. One way ticket cost less then 1500 rubles.

Ticket cost include bus from Krasnodar to the port, ferry to the coast of Crimea and from there bus to the city.

Hello!
In this way, as you write, you can visit the Crimea without any problems, your path will be entirely on the territory of Russia. In this way, in the summer in the Crimea goes the bulk of the Russian people.
