I have paid for my cheap flights to Moscow in May.
However I can find no hotel accommodation available on the internet. (Apparently there is a big football match in Moscow around that date).
Can anyone suggest how I can find a suitable place to stay for a few days.
Staying with a Moscow family would be fine.
For homestays, try Hofa in Russia These folks although located in Petersburg can arrange homestays in a variety of places including Petersburg, Moscow and Irkutsk. Or try homestay AT mail.ru (replace the "AT" with "@" )
Also look at #4 in the New RU Sticky which lists most but not all the hostels in the city. You might be able to find a bed in a hostel.

Hi, http://www.russia-for-travel.com/ these guys are reliable - we used them number of times to get acommodation for our guests; not sure if they qualify as cheap acommodation but closer to May hotel prices will be skyrocketing. I remember last year during Russia-EU summit held in St Pete (not in Moscow), 3-star Holiday Inn was about 2000USD/night.
