or flyertalk.com for endless discussions of they give out bigger peanuts etc as competition. BIG differecne between INTERnational and domestic, and theyre are now in the Skyteam ?? alliance (with KLM/AF/DL) so should adhere to those stdds.

Flew from London to Moscow on a brand new airbus A340....very nice.

Then flew from Moscow to Simperofol on an ancient Iluishin something or other, circa 1960. Very retro flying experience! carpet was like something from your grannie's living room, seats didnt work, people had dogs on the plane (yes, really). later found out the plane was nick- named "the coffin of the skies"

Anyway, quite enjoyed it!

What route are you taking? Some internal flights can be iffy but most international flights meet international standards and are certainly acceptable. In fact, Aeroflot is now part of the Sky Team along with Air France, Delta, KLM, Alitalia and a number of other airlines.

Thanks everyone. This should set my husband's mind at rest. We are looking at international flights, so it seems like it will be OK.

chrisperrott40, that was funny.
My cousin said when she flew domestic aeroflot there were chickens on board and a rope to open the escape hatch.

We flew from Beijing to Moscow recently, it was fine. Food pretty terrible though, even by airline standards

Don't know about the Beijing route, but compared to Lufthansa and Swiss, Aeroflot food is really tasty. As in, has something besides mashed peas and carrots in it. And this little piece of black bread in Aeroflot... It always makes me feel like I'm really flying home, when I fly Aeroflot to Moscow. Also, Aeroflot pilots (in my experience) make very soft landings. Actually, I quite like flying with them. I only wish they would switch from SVO to Domodedovo, but that's not going to happen.
