hello, i am planning a trip in december to hopefully visit romania. I am curious as to how safe taking a bus or something to downtown to a hostel or whatever would be. I will be carrying a checked in luggage on top of my carry on stuff so i just want to make sure i would be okay, and also, i would be later on meeting a friend in stuttgart, would there be any busses from bucharest to stuttgart?
Hi All
I know that people have asked this before but I've been searching for up to date info and can't find any. Could someone tell me what times there are direct buses from Bacau to Chisinau? I have a flight getting into Bacau at 1530 on Monday and need to get home to Chisinau as soon as possible. Do I have to go via Iasi?
Thanks so much, Johnny
Hi,
I'm planning trip to Romania in early April, and I was hoping someone who lives there/has been can verify the info I've collected.
1) A Google search has come up with average temperatures around 50 F during the day, 30 F at night for Brasov - is this right for that altitude?
2) From guide books, it seems there are a lot of trails leading straight from Sibiu and Brasov. So I'm assuming I can just walk from city center to a trail head. Is this true, and are there enough different trails…
Hello,
I need to have a package sent to me, and was wondering if the Poste Restante services in Bucharest are reliable. I'll be recieving expesive electronic equipment so if there's any chance that it might not arrive I don't want to risk it.
Also, any recommendations on post offices and pick up procedures would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Mozad
Hi, everyone,
I'll be arriving in Romania on the 29th and I'll stay 'til the 3rd (but I leave very early on this last day). I'm planning to take a train from Bucharest to Sighisoara early afternoon, right after I arrive. I'm meeting a friend who will be coming from Paris to Bucharest on the 30th (which means I'd have to come from Sighisoara to Bucharest on the 30th). Initially we thought of spending New Year's Eve in Bucharest. Then, on the 1st, we would go to Brasov and come back to Bucharest…
there is a huge congestion in Sebes, a ring road is highly needed.
Compounded by some road works on the way.
I spent 2 hours over the last 20 kilometers leading up to Sebes.
So be warned, take an alternate route is anyhow possible, to save you a lot of time, fuel and aggravation.
Enjoy,
Alena
ps: Sibiu - Sighisoara is a very bad road, continuous patchwork road works average speed 40 km/hour
Sighisoara - Brasov is new, average speed 75 km/hour
I've lost my beloved Lonely Planet Romania guide book. I have been in Sibiu as a base for a couple days. Going to Sighosoara today (again not sure of what to see - suggestions?)
My main concern is I only have two days then have to head back to Bucharest (overnight train from somewhere in Bucovina direct to Bucharest) Where should I go to see the wooden painted churches? Which town should I use as a base? Any recommendations on a place to sleep? And will I be able to book the sleeper to…
Hola!
I am sure if you have read my earlier posts, you would know what we r planning for our Honeymoon in March'13. We r plannign a 20-21 day trip, allocating 10 days each to Serbia and Romania.. While I am more or less sure on Serbia, I am a little unsure on Romania.. (decided based on opinions!)
How safe is it for Indians? Things to do...? What place should we keep as our base point in Romania? Any ideas, suggestions etc..?
Thanks!
Hi,
As it seems, there will finally be a direct train connection between Budapest and Sighet in Maramures, Romania. It should start from december 1st this year, and in Romania it goes via Dej and Cluj. This also means there will be a new -and faster- connection between Sighet and Cluj. It will probably leave Sighet at 9 in the morning and arrive in Budapest at 17.40. This can change however, and i also don't know the time table for the other way around. More details follow as soon as i read…
