I'm trying to get some info for an assignment on hospitality pay rates around the world, and am really struggling to get information about salaries in Romania.

Can anyone tell me about what sort of pay hospitality workers get. Also if you know of any standard packages i.e. is everyone on hourly flat rate, or more people in montly salaried positions with benefits.

I'm really interested in positions such as:

waiters
chefs
restaurant managers
dish washers
bar staff

Any input very appreciated!

According to the latest data on incomes available (for February 2009) on the website of the National Statistics Institute the average monthly wage in the hotels&restaurants sector was 975 lei (€231) gross / 728 lei (€173) net - which practically makes it the lowest paying activity in the country.
Of course, this is just a statistical average, real wages depend on a lot of things, for instance level of experience (beginners might get around €100, experienced workers over €1000).

Also if you know of any standard packages i.e. is everyone on hourly flat rate, or more people in montly salaried positions with benefits.

Most workers are on monthly salaried positions.

it is VERY uncommon in fact to have hourly pay.
monthly payments in east Eruope nearly all come with many ''beneifts''-to the eyes of what most likely must be a USAer-ut locals think of that quite differently! (the benefits were far, far larger in tmes of true socialism)
yes, quotes of about 200/250€ p.m. for experienced staff are most often quoted from Romanians-less for just started or less qualified
