Hi Guys

We've just booked some tickets in/out of Bucharest from London for an Xmas trip/ We're getting in on 23/12 and leaving on 2/1. Does anyone know if the buses/trains stop running for all/most of this period? Its just the long distance once's were worried about, as we want to do the classic 'Transylvania' loop, without having to hire a car.

Thanks!
Steve

No, trains and buses run normally during that time, just on December 25 and January 1st you might have some problems (especially with buses); note that on many routes trains and buses will be quite crowded in the days right before and after Christmas (December 23-24/Dec 26-27), respectively New Year (Dec 30-31/Jan 2).

Yes the trains up here run fairly normaly the buss however will be a bit more problematic and may well run if the driver wasnt out makeing merry the night before. But you can always hitch around here so no real problem.

So, if we stick to the trains, we should be OK through 24/25/26?

...I can only shudder at the thought of those buses after a night of making merry!

Thanks!

Most likely, yes - but about one month before Dec 25 do take a look at the official train timetables on infofer.ro to see if any trains aren't running.

only insular Brits tend to think this way-in fact any European is more surprised about taht quaint Brit custom of NOt having them-if you remeber this-you never have to ask again. 7 days and 365 days-note that rail tiems are due to change on some general common day early december-and thus they will NOT show up on any site till a week or 2 advane-again-no ned to get into panick about that
