I was wondering of somebody could give me decent advice on conditions in the Bucegi mountains the next couple of days, or tell me where to find it.

I'm currently in Brasov and considering a 2 to 3 day trekking, starting out from Sinaia, going up by cable car to Cota 2000. From there on go on to Babele and then if possible to Omu and downwards to Bran. Is this already feasable or will there still be too much snow? Any idea of some cabanas are open?

Thanks, David

According to this recent article (from May 1st) most hiking routes in the Bucegi mountains remain (theoretically) closed for tourists for the next week because there's still a lot of snow in some areas (one meter high at Omu peak); nonetheless, it also says that half of the trails are in reasonable condition, so if you're properly equipped and experienced you should be able to do it, just ask before starting from Sinaia which routes to avoid.

There are various sites showing the weather at Omu peak (like this one); also check this live webcam at Cota 2000.
