I'm thinking of flying into Bucharest on Friday 31 July morning, spending the day and night there, then getting train to Brasov on Saturday morning (for Castle Bled etc.). We then want to get the train to Chisnaiu and join a friend on the same train coming from Bucharest on the Sunday evening.

Questions:
Does anyone know where this train stops? Does it stop in Brasov? If not, how can we connect to join it on its way from Bucharest to Chisnaiu, if we are coming from Brasov? We would rather not return to Bucharest, unless we have to.

Thanks,

Duncan

Brasov on Saturday morning (for Castle Bled etc.)

You mean castle Bran.

The train to Chisinau doesn't pass through Brasov; the nearest place were you could catch it is Ploiesti (2 1/2 hours south of Brasov). There are very frequent trains between Brasov and Ploiesti, about one per hour (check timetables on infofer.ro), but note that the trains from Brasov arrive at the Ploiesti West station while the train to Chisinau stops at Ploiesti South station, so you'll also have to travel between these stations by public transportation or taxi.

You could also catch the train to Chisinau at its other stops (Buzau, Focsani, Bacau etc. -there are direct buses from Brasov to these cities), but it's more complicated and simply not worth it (if you're going to take a bus anyway, why not take it all the way to Chisinau, there are several of them per day from Brasov).

also: since the last revolt and more measures-this train ONLY runs ev 2nd day-till furhter notice-so the 2 of you arriving on the day after is simply impossible. There are also plenty-if also lower in nr as before-overnight buses. There was also an announced bus direct from Brs-likely not daily though

What days of the week does it run? Can we get it on Sunday 2 August?

I think it starts from Bucharest only on odd numbered days, so no, theoretically you can't get it on August 2 - but the schedule might change until then.

Castle Bled is in Slovenija, but I can assure you that it's a really nice place Castle Bran too:). A good idea would be to go from Brasov with the bus to Bacau, the road pass the mountains, nice landscapes. And from Bacau to take the train directly to Chisinau.
