i'm flying into krakow mid september for a days sightseeing and a couple of days hiking in
the tatras. looking for a small friendly b&b in both krakow and zakopane.. maybe 50/60 euros
a night. somewhere central, i've heard the jewish quarter in krakow is good...any suggestions greatly apreciated...

My wife and I will be in Poland in late September of 2012. We are looking to stay on a farm, preferably somewhere between Krakow and Warsaw. Does anyone have suggestions for how to find such a stay? Although my father's parents were Poles who moved to America, I speak only a few words of Polish and my wife speaks none.

I am traveling to Warsaw for a week and would love to go to Vilnius for a full day visit. It looks like the train takes a very long time. Can I hire a driver for an overnight trip? Where can I find someone?

So, Krakow is a nice city visually, though it's not Prague, and well, I;m sure if you are going to Poland, you'll visit.

Of course, sometimes when you travel, you have moments when you're travelling that are pretty scary. Thought I would share a note of opposites, in Krakow, where I someone wanted to extinguish the life inside me, for no reason, and then minutes later, finding "love."

Is it worth going to Wroclaw if you are also going to Gdansk?

Both these places were rebuilt after the war. Do the historic city centres just look the same?

And what about Olsztyn aka Allenstein? Very few posts on LP about this place!

I will taking an excursion to these infamous camps. I know this really is individual, but what is the suggested, or recommended time to really explore both camps? 5 hours, half a day, a whole day???

Poland is a really beautiful destination. The cities that you should definitely visit are Kraków and Warsaw (-especially- Warsaw). If any of you travellers are on the fence of whether or not to take a trip to see the horrors of Auschwitz, as I was when I went, and sort of forced myself to go, I would also urge you to make the decision to do so, despite the fact that I would likely never return.
