Do not go here at night thinking it is a safe place or for that matter that it is even enjoyable. Almost every place that serves alcohol is open past 5AM (probably illegally) and from midnight until about 6AM (that is not a typo) the great majority of people around Stary Rynek are mostly male, completely drunk, swearing, shouting, breaking bottles in the street, and getting into fights. Having never been to Poland what is the tourism, transport and such during January like?

Obviously it will be winter, but I'm curious if normal trains and tourist things will be operating? I will be landing in Warsaw and making my way down to Krakow before heading into the Czech Republic.

Any advice or firsthand experience would be much appreciated.

We are planning a trip to Poland and thought we would like to travel south of Worclaw (Karkonosze National Park). We would like to drive through the mountains from Szklarska Poreba to Karpacz, see one or both of the Peace Churches, Jelenia Gora, Ksiaz Castle.

( 1 ) I have a map but I don't see the road from Szklarska Poreba to Karpacz. Is there one and how good is it?

Hello everyone!

I will be in Warsaw on 31st December. Are there any suggestions in answer to how to spend the evening in a modest way?

Should you have to drive to the new Modlin airport from Warsaw, give yourself a bit more time that the 50 minutes suggested... unless,that is, they have put some more road signs up since the other day! The Modlin aiport website gives directions on how to reach Nowy Dwor Mazowiecki and .... that's it, so when you turn off from the road to Gdansk and arrive at NDM, you are basically on your own.

We made the mistake of actually driving into NDM and wasting at least 15 mins looking for more road…
