Hi, I hope somebody here can help me.

I live in Zory, south of Katowice, and I'd need to get to Opava, Czech Republic to meet up with a friend, but I can't seem to find a way of getting into the Czech Rep. with public transport from Zory/Jastrzebie.
I know there's a bus to Cieszyn/Cesky Tesin but I'd rather avoid taking it as Cieszyn is in the opposite direction and a bit out of the way.

I hope you have some better ideas, cause it seems like public transport in the area is pretty poor.

Thank you :)

Indeed cross-border transport connections aren't the best in the area. Apart from Cieszyn (which may actually end up as your best option) you could try going via Bohumín. There's one train a day from Racibórz via Chałupki to Bohumín. There are more trains only to Chałupki (see pkp.pl), from where you can walk in 20 mins across the border to a Czech bus stop (which according to this useful website is called Bohumín,Starý Bohumín,nám.Svobody and is served rather frequently - see [www.jizdnirady.cz]).

If you want to get to Opava as quickly and easily as possible, I don't think you will find a faster connection than taking a bus to Cieszyn, walking across to Cesky Tesin and taking a direct train from there to Opava (trains depart at least once an hour throughout the day). It may look like a detour on the map, but there just aren't any faster connections along a more direct route.
