During my last day in Poland in July, I am thinking of taking a train from Krakow to Warsaw and then continuing on to Vilnius by the overnight bus. I notice that the train from Krakow arrives into Warsaw Zachodnia station and the bus to Vilnius also departs from Warsaw Zachodnia. That brings me to my question:

How far apart are the Zachodnia train and bus stations? Can I walk from one to the other? How much time do I need to allow to get from the train to the bus station?

Thanks.

Krish

The bus station is right next door. You will have a walk of maybe 200m, all of which can be under cover in case of rain

BTW if you dont alteready have tickets for the train and can afford a little more, I recommend going First Class on the train, going to the dining car and ordering the freshly cooked schnitzel...delicious.

Mandja,

No, I don't have train tickets since this trip is only in July and I will certainly consider the 1st class option. Actually, I was planning to just purchase a ticket and then hop on the train. Is that possible in Poland or is it better to buy train tickets in advance?

Yes it should be possible as there are a number of trains on that route each day. I bought mine an hour before.

Mandja,

What about the overnight eurolines bus from Warsaw to Vilnius? Is it possible to purchase tickets on the day of travel or is it advisable to purchase tickets in advance?

I will be in Warsaw at the beginning and end of my trip. Early on, I will be taking a train from Warsaw to Poznan and on my last day I will be taking a train from Krakow to Warsaw Zachodnia and then take the overnight eurolines bus to Vilnius.

If it is advisable to purchase Eurolines tickets in advance (particularly for Saturday night bus travel), I will purchase my ticket before hoping on the tain to Poznan towards the beginning.

Thanks.

Krish

A- Ive not been to Vilnius, so not entirely certain, but I would be surprised if you must buy in advance

I do know that train Warsaw/Krakow and Warsaw/Poznan wont be a problem last minute
