Hi!
I am going to Poznan for a conference next month, and I am taking four days afterward to see the rest of Poland. But what I'd really like to do is go to Bialystok, where my grandmother is from, and specifically to the town of Milejczyce, which appears to be about an hour south of Bialystok. My dates are Dec. 13-18, and I fly out of Krakow on the 18th.
Here's just some of my questions:
- Is it reasonable to get to Bialystok from Poznan and see the area in that limited time?
- Bus or train - your thoughts?
- Once I get to Bialystok, should I rent a car to get to Milejczyce? Is that totally nuts? Should I hire a driver/translator? Any recommendations on that?
- Recommendations of old Jewish sites to see in Bialystok?
- As I said, I leave from Krakow on the 18th. Can I get directly from Bialystok to Krakow, or do I need to go back to Warsaw first? The train schedule seems to give me conflicting information...
Thanks to anyone who can help me with some of this logistical stuff!! I really appreciate it!
