Thanks!

the centre-town has some-much of it bombed down in the war-remaining old style=mainly german houses/buildings etc and is pleasant for a walk or sniffing PL-sfere if you have never been there. I remember some kruittoren-or citygates or so. It is/was also-just like Gdansk-a major shipbuilding and port town-and there is still a bit of that to see.
The surroundings are plain flat and boring. A little furhter is the sea-Swinoujscie-easy minibuses+train, and the coast-only advisable when the wheather is nice=not now or nexct month. but for just 1 day think thats to much.

Martime Museum: besides maritime, has exhibits on Szczecin and Pomerania, but a lot only in Polish.
National Museum: art.
Castle of the Pomeranian Princes, including a Museum.
Town Hall/Historical Museum of Szczecin.
St John's Church, original, 14th C.
For traditional Polish meal: Restauranja Chata. Inexpensive.

Szczecin is a great city for those who have an appreciation of history. Have a look at its wiki for more information Szczecin

The first time I visited was Tall ships 2007,with a free open air concert and fireworks thrown in. I would recommend taking sometime walking by the river there are loads of good restaurants here.

The only thing I would warn you, trivial as it may seem, most of the staff at the train station do not speak English.

PM me if you want further information
