My father and I will be spending one night in Krakow, mid week, in March this year.

My father has never been to an Eastern European country before whereas I have lived and worked all around Poland.

What I am looking for ideally is a hotel in the Jewish quarter. However other areas would be great. If it were upto me I would look for a place near Nowa Huta. But thats my personal travel philosophy.

I have looked around at the Hotel Kazimierz I and II, the reviews are ambivalent at best. Price range 150PLN to 200PLN would be good.

Any reviews advice would be great

Not exactly where you asked for a place, but we stayed at the Ibis Centrum and were pleased. Nothing fancy, but very, very clean and everything up to date. Friendly staff and nothing at all to say negative. In the late fall we booked via the web and it was about 200 PLN.

10 minute walk to the old town center and about 20 minutes along the river to Kazimierz.

Here are a couple of helpful resources, with author reviews:

In Your Pocket (which has a nice guide to all of Krakow, not just hotels.)

Well... It's hostel but a very nice one. Many of the reviewers "complain" that's it's not a hostel but a hotel. I'm staying at the Secret Garden Hostel right now. It's literally a 1-2 minute walk from the Jewish quarter. The main issue is that they don't have ensuites so it's shared bathrooms. But they have a lot of shared bathrooms. Almost one per room. I booked through expedia and I got my twin room for 15 PLN a night. It's normally 85-95 PLN if you walk in or book through Hostelworld et al.

OMG... Poland is NOT an Eastern European country !!!!! Yeah, Russia is in Eastern Europe. But not Poland ! It's located ideally in the centre of the continent.

I recommend Krakow Holiday Apartments . The Old Jewish quarter seems to me a much better location than the Old Town. Much nicer atmosphere and a lot cheaper than the Main Square area
