I was wondering if anyone out there knows if the couchettes on the Euronight train "Jan Kiepura" from Warsaw to Basel and Munich are 4 berth or 6 berth. The PKP Intercity site says that there are couchettes but doesn't give a breakdown as to what type. The majority of the train heads to Amsterdam while 1 couchette goes to Munich and another goes to Basel.

Thanks

they have both-some are simple used by 4-and paid as such-whilst having 6 berthes. the middle=then upper one can be adjusted in height to suit. I dont know the exac breakdown for all its various destinations. the train is said to be popular-so if you reserve too late-you may simply have to take what is left. but this-as always-is likely to be dependent on season. they also have separate ladies comptmts. the seats-just 1 car-are also quite good-wide and 1+2 in the width-and fully reclining-better as most airline bisnisclass.
if you speak/read deutsch; train-buffs and eisenbahnfanaten sind ja viel besser aufgehoben aufs auslandsforum der blockstelle.de oder drehscheibe-online.de

The car with the seats/sleeperettes travels to Amsterdam. Two cars travel to Basel (one sleeping car from Moscow and one couchette car from Warsaw) and two cars travel to Munich (also one sleeping car from Moscow and one couchette car from Warsaw).

But i do understand how the couchettes can be converted from 4 to 6 and vice versa. The extra 10 Euros is worth it for the extra space and privacy. My trip will be in late July but i will book early to get the 4-berth couchettes.
