Hi all,

I'm looking at Georgia to spend a few weeks in, in early September next year, and will be traveling by myself, just wondering how social the travel is there? Also is it full of young travelers like Thailand and such? I'm in my early 40's and don't want to feel like some old grandad in a hostel.

Are there lots of hostels, back packer type places to stay to meet other people. I'm fine with spending a bit of time by myself now and then, but a whole 3 weeks without any company would be a…

Hi, I plan to go in next summer to Georgian for 3 or 4 weeks, bringing bicycle by plane. For the moment, my bike is not VTT but I can make some change if necessary. I'd like to know:
if it's possible to travel on small roads(to avoid big roads, but what about the dogs???) ,
where to find a good map,
is it easy to find accomodation in the village,
any advice for the itinerary ( I'll spend some time hiking in mountains)?
Thanks a lot, SDB

Hi,

I stayed in Batumi for 10 GEL/night (less than 5 euro). This is half the price of the cheapest accommodation mentioned in LP. So I thought this info might be useful for people on a small budget.
It's a kind of homestay in the outskirts of town (less than 5 km from the centre). It's situated in between the railway station (Makhinjauri) and the city, so also handy if you need an early train. But if you want to party hard it's probably better to stay in the centre, cause they close the house at…

Hi everyone,

I am tentatively planning a week-long trip to Georgia at the end of November / beginning of December (Nov 27 - Dec 4 to be exact).

I love mountain scenery and am really hoping to visit Kazbegi to see the Trinity Church and enjoy the mountain views. I realize the more mountainous regions like Svaneti will be largely inaccessible at this time, but does anyone know if it will be possible to reach Kazbegi at this time? Will the road be open and will I be able to access the church? I…

Hey everyone,

About a month or so ago, I asked here about Mtirala national park and there was not much information here about it so I came back to tell about my experience.
I had a short time to visit the park - about a day, a day and a half. I crossed from Turkey to Batumi the afternoon of that day, and I wanted to stay close to the park so I can start walking the next morning.
In Batumi, locals told me that marshutka to the village of the park is only twice a week - Tuesday and Friday, so I…

Hi Guys!

Does anyone know whether the Akhaltsikhe - Khulo - Batumi road is passable nowadays? Especially Khulo.
I will be in Akhaltsikhe beginning of November? What's the weather like in that region, does it rain a lot?

Alternatively does anyone know anything about Akhaltsikhe - Kutaisi road?

Surely, the shortest way can always become the longest but still we would really appreciate the latest information if any.

Thanks in advance!

Hey all, just did a weekend trip from Tbilisi to Yerevan and thought I'd post the schedules and prices I found. Night trains leave Tbilisi for Yerevan on odd dates (1st, 3rd, etc, but not the 1st if the day before is the 31st) at 20:20, arriving at the border around midnight and Yerevan around 7AM. 2nd class kupe is 51 lari, 3rd class platzkartny is 33 lari.

Yerevan to Tbilisi trains leave on even dates (2nd, 4th, etc) at 22:00, arriving at the border around 4am and Tbilisi around 8:30AM. 2nd…

Hello Travellers!

My girlfriend and I are currently in Istanbul and will be travelling to Kars beginning of November. We decided to settle down in Svaneti, Mestia for a couple of months, at least this is the plan for now. The question is which border crossing is better to go to Svaneti? We would like to travel non-stop, probably via Batumi. What are the options available? Buses, marshrutkas, trains?

Another thing is Svaneti itself. Since it is pretty remote we would like to know if decent…

My husband and I are traveling extensively and we are currently in Turkey but have a month or so to spend before we need to be in Cairo, Egypt. We were thinking about going into Georgia and/or Armenia. We've been looking on the internet but having trouble finding the best places to go and what there is to see and do. We will be there the end of October/early November. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I know I need to continue researching but I'd really like to hear…
