- The reason you may be treated like a criminal in Georgia if you visit Abhazia that is concidered as occupied georgian territory
- You probably will be banned in Georgia
- No overland crossing between Georgia and Abhazia.
I have been asking my self the same question because the norwegian foreign authority also warns againnst travel to Abkhazia.
I went to Abkhazia from Georgia a couple of weeks ago, and I had no problems whatsoever. People were friendly and I managed to get around without knowing more than just a few simple words of russian. I was questioned by a soldier on the abkhaz side of the boarder when I was going back to Georgia, but it only lasted about 15-20 minutes and he was very friendly and was mostly interested in my pictures.
Soldier: "Ah, very beautiful city! Where is it?
Me:"It's Tbilisi :-) "
Soldier: "What!? Is that Tbilisi?...hmmm...very nice!"
fduch; What you write is not true.
- It is only illegal to enter Gerogia, if you first entered Abkhazia from Russia.
- Again, it is only if you go from Russia to Georgia VIA Abkhazia that you can get into trouble with Georgian authorities, as this is seen as illigal entry into the country.
- Not true at all. There is a boarder-crossing at Inguri, a 15 minutes taxi-ride from Zugdidi, Georgia.
