Hi!

We've got flights to / from Tbilisi in April and we'd like to see different places in Georgia during 7 days. This should include the capital.

Considering the distances by public transport (not renting a car), what kind of an itinerary would you suggest? The tour should start and end in Tbilisi.

Happy to hear your thoughts!

What's the weather /temperature typically like in late April?

What would you like to do? Bakuriani could be good if you want to ski or just spend your day in a ridiculously quaint ski town. I'd go just to take the slow train there during winter.

Gori, which is very accessible from Tbilisi, is great for a day and a night. The Stalin museum's great and I actually found by far my favorite restaurant of the months I spent in Georgia there (and I found good food everywhere).

But, again, it all depends on your interests.

Mtskheta
Gori
Sighnaghi
Telavi
Kazbegi
Vardzia

All above manageable as day-trips, if started early in the morning. With public transport some (Kazbegi & Vardzia) can be challenging.

Temperature in Late April - around + 20

Great, thanks for the tips! We're interested in seeing different towns and villages - simple as that. Does public transport in Georgia typically mean train / bus / minibus?

minibus

minibuses go pretty much everywhere

trains link to major towns - Batumi, Poti, Zugdidi, Gori, so on... But far less frequent...

Buses basically same as trains...

So, if not willing to rent a car - most probably you will be a regular minibus passenger :)

Hi,

Why don't you read a guidebook first ?
My points of interests are not yours and you have so much to see that you can stay there for a while...
Very easy to move around by public transports.

Sighnaghi and Telavi are not so interesting, there is not much to do there.
It's good to have two days in Tbilisi (baths, botanical garden, etnographic museum, half day for Mccheta (very frequent minibuses), a day for David Gareji in Kakheti (shuttle bus Gareji Line), then two days in Kazbegi (minibus from Didube station, walk to Trinity Church, stay for the night), then maybe Gori (but apart from Stalin's museum there's also not much to do), and Batumi.. One week is very little time, but it may give a tiny idea what Georgia is about ;)
