Dear travelers,

I am going to Georgia with a friend in Sept for 8 days and we would like to do some hiking in the mountains. Hiring a jeep with a driver for the whole stay seems a bit pricy for us. Is a car necessary to get to tusheti or khevsureti? Is it possible to get a few day hikes leaving by foot from shatili? or Omalo?

Thanks!

There is a mashrutka twice a week to Shatili, but I don't know whether it will continue in September. Shatili is not such a good base for dayhikes (there is only one).
Kazbegi is the easiest option.
You can also do dayhikes in Mestia.
