Hi

We are going to Tbilisi in October for 3 or 4 days. I’m with my girlfriend and we are looking some cool places to visit. Of course we see the main attractions, but we are looking also something different to see and always it’s nice to know good places for local lunch and dining.

What about costs for typical lunch, dining, drinks etc?

Thanks for the reply

I have something different for you to see in October: demonstrations, violence, arbitrary arrests, civil unrest. It would be best to avoid the city and go to country side, there are many nice places outside Tbilisi (Kazbegi, Davit Gareja, Vardzia etc).

Maybe there will be some demonstrations, because of the parliamentary elections on october first. But these will be centered around one or 2 squares or the main avenue. THere is a lot more to see and do in Tbilisi, it is a very nice city! But a 2 days trip to Kazbegi is also really worth it, depends a bit when and how you arive and leave Tbilisi.

Have a good trip,
Matthijs

There are already demonstrations in more than just "2" places - Rustaveli, Chavchavadze, in front of GPB on Kostava, in Avlabari at the Presidential Palace. Demonstrations are also taking place in other cities. Last night police violently dispersed the protests in Avlabari, people were arrested and are in detention. Be careful. Kazbegi is a good suggestion, it will be peaceful there.

I was in Georgia for 3 days as well earlier this year and managed to cover Mtskheta, Gori and Tbilisi during that timeframe. The first 2 can be done as daytrips from Tbilisi, or even as half-day trips each.

Quite a lot of interesting things to see in these places... Tbilisi especially, which was a welcome surprise!

@Pietrified: nice pictures on your blog about Georgia! You didn't go to beautiful Uplistsikhe (just a few km from Gori)?
