I applied for a permit to enter RSO in november 2013...after I sent my signed application with passport copy I got a reply from the Foreign Ministry that I will get a reply after 2 to 3 weeks..as far as I remember people wrote here that it would only take about 3 days ...so I soon rang them up in the hope to speed up the process...after 5 days or so they said they didnt get a reply by whomever...and I would have to wait further...the next day they called me and said maybe only MAYBE I could enter after 3 days or so and if so, I would have to be accompanied by a soldier all the time...sounded quite interesting..however they didnt call me afterwards so I took my chance again..we didnt get a reply yet I was told again and should wait again...this went on for another 1 and a half months and at the end havent been successful in obtaining a permit...I visited Abkhazia instead...when I came from Chechnya that day to take a train from Vladikavkas I was interrogated at the train station about what I was doing here...one young officer was quite eager to practice his poor english with me and repeatedly said to me Georgia,Georgia,Georgia..I was little nervous and didnt say much to all of them...as I was late for the train...they quickly wrote down my name...photographed then my russian visa etc. and let me pass in order to be able to catch the train..around 2 hours later I was visited by 2 officers in my train compartment to be questioned over and over again...had to produce my immigration card and they were fussy about registration ..I said I wouldnt have one in the north caucasus which made them slightly upset...after inspecting my immigration card further one of them asked me whether I registered at the place of my arrival which I did...and what was done in Moscow...that pleased them in the end and went off..it looks like my georgian stamps created some curiosity for them and could be one reason I wasnt allowed into South Ossetia...talking to other travellers also russians they also said police in North Ossetia are at times a bit over official...later in Krasnodar I was documents checked again upon entering the train station...scoured through my passport for some time..called up someone...told me that I have visited interesting countries and handed me back my passport...the first thing was registration again but my friend with whom I stayed calmed them down that I was in town only for 2 days...too bad ...and little disappointed is how I feel today...has anybody out there had a similar experience ?...any advice of how I should approach my next trial to enter RSO is appreciated...Thank you..
