Hello,
We just came back from three weeks in Armenia and Georgia and we are completely stoked by both countries. Because the Lonely Planet is not too thick for these areas, I decide to share my experience and some useful links and ideas.
Our reason of visiting the land was to meet the absolutely hospitable and friendly people, discovering the landscape and the mountains and to go rock-climbing. All these points have been more than fulfilled, two absolutely amazing places.
Here some additional recommendations and tips:
- In Yerevan a perfect place to stay is the Balcony Hostel, Hovsep Emin 3/1, Tel: 00374 10 26 44 49, email balcony.hostel@gmail.com, or find them on Facebook. Emma and her son Stepan can help you with everything you need, thanks again for the great time in your hostel. The climbing rocks are just on the opposite site of the great balcony with an amazing outlook.

If you want to make the first steps in rock climbing or you need a guide to show you the best places, or even for winter and ski touring, there is Mkhitar with his company http://uptherocks.com/ . He is such a great guy with good ideas for your trip he can offer you a wide range to explore both countries. Absolutely recommended!!

If you travel to Borjomi in Georgia, don´t miss to see the national park. For the best and friendliest information I have ever got in a Tourist information see Arthur there.
-
If you come to Chiatura, there is the Café Paris in the city center for a relaxing time
-
In Tbilisi there is a great Café in the old town called Electrique Café. They serve delicious cakes and coffees.
So go out and see these great places:-)
