in the new Lonely Planet is written:
"At the Meteo Station you may be able to join a group heading to the summit for 50 GEL to 100 GEL..."
What does it mean? Can we use the guides of the other groups? Is it in general necessary to book a guide? We have experience with mountaineering and rock climbing in the alps, but only Ortler normal route and Piz Bernina Biancograt .
We want to climb the Kazbek end of September.

Well, when yout ake the Metro to Didube bus station, there are two ways to go to Kazbegi
1-take a taxi, shared with others, costs around 50 GEL
2-Marshrutka, every hour, from 8 am till 5 or 6 pm, costs 10 GEL takes 2.5 or 3 hours.
If you are staying there, I stayed in Nunu guesthouse, nice, have a view on the Stepantsminda Church, clean, costs 20 GEL per night only Bed, but 40 GEL with breakfast and Dinner.
To go to Kazbegi, I mean to climb the mountain, very east from the the downtown, very close.
there are some arrows that tell you the way up, don't worry you can do it on your own, it takes some one hour and half or two hours, depends on your speed.

Ahmed climb to mount ( kazbek ) its mean to rich the summit ))))))) 1, 2 and 3 hours its not enough ... u need 3 days
Hi there GuidesCamp, We (my boyfriend and I) are looking to climb Kazbegi in a few weeks. We arrive in Tblisi on the 26th July and have seven days. We are happy to catch a bus up to Kazbegi but would love some information on climbing the mountain and if you think it is necessary join a guide to reach the summit. All the trips I can find are fully inclusive and 9 days or so long which is too long for us.
