Before our last trip to Prague at about this time of year, we read an article suggesting walking in the gardens to the north of the castle. We tried this only to find all gates locked. Off there again shortly and was wondering if they are in fact open in the winter and if so when and which is the best way to access them?

First time poster, long time looker.

I'm visiting Prague for the first time for 3 nights with my friend next week. Really looking forward to it with the more research I do. All very exciting.

We like a bit of a night out and I already have the Jazzdock earmarked as a must-do for one night but I was also hoping to sample a good Prague club. I've read mixed reviews of Karlovy Lazne and also Club Duplex that don't really fill me with confidence of a good night.

I have travelled quite a bit in the western European countries but always with my partner and with a lot of cash to spend.

For the first time I am going to explore things alone and going to the east on a budget backpacking trip. My plan is to reach Prague the day before Christmas and I was wondering if it is sensible to go there at that time. will things be open?

I am planning to spend the Christmas and head to Bratislava the next day (boxing day) early hours.

We are visiting Prague next April 2012 and we would like to know what is the best neighborhood to stay, hotel/apt recommendation etc. Should be great at a walking distance of an important attraction or with nice sights.

We'll be arriving in Prague on 22nd January 2012 (Sunday) by air. The taxi at the airport goes by meter? What's the average cost per trip to somewhere near Praha hl.n (I've reserve a hotel near the train station)? Can most cab drivers speak English? Hi, I will be flying to Prague from Paris on the 30th December to spend new years there. Could anyone please give me the name of a decent hotel nearby Wenceslas Square? Can anybody tell me what is the best way to travel from Prague to Budapest in the middle of winter. Is it safe to hire a car and drive in early January?

Firstly, is it best to book in advance or show up and look around for hostels in Prague?
What is a fair nightly rate for a dorm? Private, single room?
What neighborhood is best for a solo traveler in their 20s to find a good selection of accomodation and be near the sights?
